Thanksgivings

Well, we're getting our November post in, just under the wire. I do hope we'll be more consistent once babyluffagus makes an appearance and there is more to report.

We have lots to be thankful for these days- here's a sampling with illustrations.

Matt and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary in October (woo-hoo!). We went to our favorite anniversary eatery, Henrietta's Table, where Matt took me on our first date. As Caitlin pointed out, this is probably the only anniversary date our baby will accompany us on.

Also in early to mid-October my parents visited. We always love hanging out with them (even though dad's visit was a bit of a whirlwind). Mom and I went for afternoon tea and had fun bonding over shopping. Here I'm sporting a very cool shirt that Mom and Caitlin got for me from Morocco.

The foliage was beautiful as always this year, especially the surprising second wave of mostly yellow trees. This is the one from our backyard.

We had a bit of a roller-coaster ride a few weeks ago with the baby- they found an irregular heartbeat (an extra beat every 6 or 7 beats) during a routine appointment. Apparently it's usually harmless and resolves on its own, but they wanted us to check it out. So we got an ultrasound (my theory is that it's impossible to be pregnant in the US and not have one, but that's for another post)- the great news was that the baby's heart looked a-okay and the heartbeat was regular. And we got fun pictures of the baby, which I'll try to post soon. In the meantime, here's one of baby from the outside.
As you can see, both baby and I are getting bigger! I'm 30 weeks here- about 7 1/2 months. Baby is about 3 pounds by now, I think, and is supposed to gain about 1/2 pound a week from here on out!

And finally, we had a wonderful visit with my relatives in NJ for Thanksgiving. Here are a few fun photos from our time, which was filled with great food, good conversation, and tons of game playing.

Halfway up the mountain

We're over half-way there! I'm at almost 26 weeks now (6 1/2 months). I meant to post these pictures closer to the half-way point (20 weeks), but technical difficulties and pregnancy tiredness have interfered. At any rate, these pictures below were taken at 21 weeks.

And this one is from last week- definitely showing more!

Our baby has been moving and kicking a lot- such a joy to experience. And now that babyluffagus can hear we say goodnight to him/her every night.
We also had two great weekend adventures in September. First we went camping in the White Mountains with a group of friends, including a gorgeous and challenging hike to Lonesome Lake. The next weekend we stayed at a friend's cottage in Lake Winnipesaukee and hiked to the top of Mt. Major, which had amazing views of the lake and islands.

It was a glorious day!

Flowers and Other Growing Things

Welcome to the inaugural posting on our new blog! Today's theme is things that grow. Flowers, tummies, and...babies! We're expecting our first little one on January 31st. These are the flowers Matt got me when we first found out I was pregnant.

We've started our very own t-shirt tradition (in true Wald family style). Every few weeks we're planning to take a picture of me in it. Here are the first ones, taken yesterday- I'm at 18 1/2 weeks. Btw, we've nicknamed our baby "Babyluffagus"for now- the little critter to the left of the sign is the namesake Snuffleupagus (from Sesame Street).

And to conclude, here are some pictures of our garden. All the flowers came from my grandmother, who grows them from seed. It hasn't rained much this summer, so they're a little less lush than usual, but still pretty. Celesia & marigolds, impatients, nicotiana and snapdragons.
